Coming July 15: the first Matador pressing of Pavement’s Westing (By Musket And Sextant), the compilation of Pavement’s early work from 1989-1993. The new pressing coincides with this year’s release of the Terror Twilight: Farewell Horizontal 4xLP box set and a 30th anniversary limited vinyl edition of Slanted & Enchanted. Pavement begins several months out touring by headlining Primavera Sound Barcelona before continuing onto sold-out tour dates in North America and Europe.

Claire E. ★★★★★

This pressing captures the early lo-fi energy perfectly—the sound on “Box Elder” is crisp without losing that raw tape hiss. Arrived right around the July street date and the jacket feels sturdy.

Finally got my hands on this pressing and the sound is so much cleaner than my old CD rip of these early tracks. It's the first Matador pressing, which feels like a proper milestone for these 89-93 recordings.

George X. ★★★★☆

The tracklist is nicely laid out on the back cover, and the vinyl itself had almost no surface noise right out of the sleeve. My only small complaint is that the inner sleeve is a bit tight, making it tricky to slide the record back in without touching the grooves.
