Originally released in 2000, Mason Jennings' sophomore release firmly establishes him as a singer/songwriter with staying power. It reveals his penchant for singing first-person narratives of imaginary rustic characters. The New York Times compared him to Dave Matthews and in 2016, City Pages said that Birds Flying Away was Mason Jennings’ best record.

Nicholas R. ★★★★★

The vinyl pressing captures the warmth of Mason's acoustic guitar perfectly, and the first-person storytelling on side A pulled me right in. It's been on my turntable since the day it arrived.

Julian ★★★★★

Pulled the record out of the sleeve and the vinyl was flat and clean, no warps or surface noise. The first-person storytelling on the title track really pulls you into those imagined scenarios, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
