Work on Compassion started in 2018 when Gabriel was living in New Orleans. The songs he was working on at the time—tracks that didn’t fit Lawn but Gabriel still liked—initially went unfinished. But as Gabriel’s life changed, so did his songwriting and his desire to see his ideas through. “When I was writing lyrics, I was settling down with my partner and about to become a dad,” says Gabriel. “I was making choices about my life that contradicted the existence I had before.”

Ruby B. ★★★★★

I’ve been listening to this album on repeat since it arrived—the yellow vinyl really pops against my turntable. The sound quality is clear and warm, especially on the tracks that didn’t make it onto his earlier release.

Chloe D. ★★★★★

The yellow vinyl pressing is gorgeous and plays perfectly without any surface noise. I was surprised how cohesive these unfinished tracks feel, almost like they were meant to be together. The whole record has this warm, late-night New Orleans energy that really shines through the speakers.

Ella P. ★★★★★

The yellow vinyl looks stunning under the light, and the pressing itself is dead quiet between tracks. I’ve had this on repeat since it arrived—the unfinished-sounding sketches from New Orleans really grew into something special.
