We Insist! Max Roach's Freedom Now Suite

I can't believe how crisp and clear the horns sound on this pressing—it really makes the social message hit even harder. The 12-inch format gives the drums so much room to breathe.

The packaging is sturdy and the vinyl itself arrived perfectly flat with no warps—a relief for such a dense, powerful recording. The sound quality on this pressing really brings out Abbey Lincoln’s vocals in the third movement.

I’ve been spinning this Max Roach Freedom Now Suite vinyl all week, and the pressing is incredibly quiet—the horns and drums come through with real punch. The SUPERJUMBO format makes the record feel substantial in hand, and the social urgency of the music hits even harder on wax.
