Gang of Four 於 1976 年在里茲成立，開創了一種顛覆龐克直接而爆發性能量的音樂風格——偏好緊繃的節奏、打擊樂式的吉他，以及探討馬克思主義理論與情境主義的歌詞。Matador Records 將於 25 月 25 日重新發行 Gang of Four 的第三張專輯《Songs of the Free》。此專輯以標準黑膠壓製，並由 Frank Arkwright 在 Abbey Road 從原始母帶重新混音，由 Jon King 監督。專輯收錄了現場演出備受喜愛的〈Call Me Up〉，以及他們最受歡迎的「金曲」——〈I Love A Man In Uniform〉。

This pressing captures the tense, percussive rhythm guitar perfectly—it's like hearing the band live in my living room. The vinyl arrived flat and quiet, no pops or hisses during the quieter Marxist lyrical passages. Exactly the raw, angular energy I was hoping for.

The percussive guitar work on this pressing cuts through with incredible clarity, making the Marxist lyrics hit even harder than they did on my old CD. Arrived well-packaged and flat, which is always a relief for a 12-inch record.

I’ve been spinning this Gang of Four LP nonstop since it arrived—the percussive guitar work and tense rhythms hit harder than I expected from a 40-year-old pressing. Side two’s Marxis-inspired lyrics still feel urgent today.
