平成狸合戰 (影像專輯) [進口]

The sleeve art alone is worth it—those raccoons capture the film’s playful yet melancholic spirit perfectly. Spinning side A, the traditional Japanese instrumentation comes through with surprising clarity, and the tracklist flows like a proper soundtrack.

Finally spun this and the Japanese folk influences mixed with orchestral swells are exactly the mood I wanted for a rainy afternoon. The vinyl is dead quiet between tracks, which lets the subtle percussion really shine through.

The vinyl itself sounds warm and full, which really brings out the traditional Japanese instruments. I just wish the liner notes had more detail about the specific raccoon folklore referenced in each track.
