Humbug

The guitars have a crunchier, heavier feel on this one compared to earlier albums, which really suits the moody lyrics. I've been playing side B on repeat since it arrived.

Josh Homme's production gives this one a heavier, murkier feel that suits the band's darker lyrics perfectly. The vinyl pressing is clean and quiet, so the guitars on "Crying Lightning" really cut through. It's the record that made me see them as more than just a punk-rock novelty.

I was skeptical about the shift in sound, but the heavier riffs and Josh Homme's production create a darker, more textured atmosphere that really grows on you after a few listens. The vinyl pressing is clean with no surface noise, and the gatefold sleeve has a nice matte finish that feels sturdy.
