Movin' On Up A Little Higher

The vinyl arrived with minimal surface noise, and Mahalia’s voice on the opening track sent chills down my spine. The pressing captures the warmth of those old hymns perfectly, exactly what I hoped for from this gospel classic.

This record captures Mahalia’s raw power beautifully—the vinyl is dead quiet, letting her voice on those old hymns shine without any surface noise. I’ve been playing side one on repeat, and the warmth of the pressing really does justice to that transcendent sound Allmusic raves about.

I was hoping for cleaner sound on a few tracks—some surface noise pops up during quieter passages. Still, Mahalia's voice is as transcendent as ever, and the track listing here is a solid overview of her gospel roots.
