The energy of the live crowd is captured perfectly on this vinyl, you can almost feel the heat of the Buenos Aires night. Ricky Ford’s tenor sax cuts through beautifully alongside Mingus’s unmistakable bass lines. A fantastic addition to any Mingus collection.

Bass sounds incredible on this pressing, just that deep Mingus tone you'd expect live. The June 1977 recording captures Ricky Ford's sax clearly too, and I keep flipping back to side two. A real find for anyone into his later work.

The recording quality is decent but a bit flat, lacking the punch I’d expect from a live Mingus set. Ricky Ford’s tenor sax comes through clearly, though the overall mix feels a little muddy. A solid pick if you’re a Mingus fan, but not his most essential live release.
