Porco Rosso: Image Album (輸入盤)

Picked this up for a late-night listening session and the 1920s Italian vibe is so vivid through the vinyl’s warmth—the new mastering makes the seaplane sounds feel almost tangible.

The remastering really brings out the warmth of the 1920s Italian seaside atmosphere, and the vinyl’s surface is dead quiet between tracks. It’s the kind of record that makes you want to pour a glass of wine and just sit with the imagery Miyazaki’s notes conjure up.

I’ve been spinning this Porco Rosso image album all week, and the new mastering gives the 1920s Italian jazz cues a clarity I’ve never heard on my old CD. The vinyl itself is dead quiet between tracks, which makes the seaplane sound effects feel even more immersive.
