『Excess』は、Automaticがデビュー作『Signal』に続いてリリースするニューアルバムです。バンドは、企業の過剰、ディストピアSF、気候変動といったテーマを、キャッチーで新鮮なオルタナティブ・エレクトロニック・ソングに凝縮し、あらゆるタイプのロックファンに響く作品に仕上げています。

Automaticのデビュー作『Signal』のモータリックで冷たい雰囲気はそのままに、『Excess』ではバンドはその範囲を広げ、キャッチーなポップフックをサウンドに取り入れています。その結果、よりタイトでパンチの効いたAutomaticが生まれました。終末のためのダンサブルなシンセパンクです。

I was hooked from the first track—the dystopian sci-fi themes paired with that catchy electronica sound make it perfect for a late-night drive. The lyrics about 70s corporate excess are surprisingly relevant today, and it’s been on repeat all week.

The production on this album is really crisp, especially the way the synths cut through on the dystopian tracks. My only nitpick is the booklet could've used more liner notes, but the music itself is a solid evolution from Signal.
