Piano Collections : Pokémon Rouge/Bleu/Vert/Jaune 2CD

The piano arrangements really bring out the emotion in the original Game Boy tunes, especially the way "Pallet Town" sounds so warm and reflective. I've been listening to it on repeat while working, and the two discs give you plenty of music to enjoy without getting repetitive.

I was a bit skeptical about a 2CD set for game music, but the variety of tracks from all four first-gen games makes it feel complete. The piano-only arrangements are clean and pleasant, though I wish the booklet included more detailed liner notes.

The song selection is a nice trip through Kanto, and the piano arrangements feel surprisingly faithful to the chiptune originals. I do wish the two discs had a bit more contrast between them, but the overall mood is exactly what I wanted for a quiet evening of nostalgia.
