Learning To Swim On Empty is the new EP from South Londoner Wu-Lu. It is his first new material since his 2022 breakthrough debut album, LOGGERHEAD. Released digitally back in May 2024, the vinyl edition includes two previously unreleased tracks: Last Night With You (Instrumental) and Crow’s Nest (Instrumental).

The EP finds the vocalist and musician diving deeper than ever before, surfacing with some of his most heartfelt, intimate songs yet, and broadening his sonic palette in the process. The record plays like a series of diary entries, inspired by growing up in Brixton, death and grief, rebirth, and the sink-or-swim feeling that comes with being thrown in at the deep end.

Julian ★★★★★

The heavy 180-gram pressing feels solid in the hands, and the bass on "Scrambled Tricks" really comes through clear on my turntable. It's great to finally have this EP on vinyl after waiting since the digital release.

Brian ★★★★☆

The sound quality across both sides is surprisingly rich for a short EP, and the artwork on the sleeve looks great in person. Only wish the digital download code was included with the vinyl.
