Forbidden Planet (Original MGM Soundtrack) (Reissue)

The hiss and hum of the Barron brothers' electronics feel incredibly alive on this 2025 pressing, and the surface is dead quiet between tracks. It's a stunning transfer of a landmark score that sounds like it was recorded yesterday, not seventy years ago.

I put this on my turntable and was immediately struck by how full and warm the 2025 reissue sounds—the theremin really comes through clearly. The gatefold sleeve is sturdy and the liner notes add a nice touch for fans of the original film. A solid pressing of a classic score.

This vinyl is dead quiet between tracks, which really lets the theremin and electronic textures shine. The 2025 pressing has a nice weight to it and the cover art pops.
